The difference between saturated and unsaturated fatty acids was discovered as early as 1920. Over the past 50 years, several thousand publications have been published on the subject of “fish and health”.
The most important polyunsaturated fatty acids are omega-3 fatty acids. These are essential fatty acids that the body cannot produce itself. Omega-3 fatty acids are found in abundance in cold-water fish. The oil obtained consists of 22% saturated, 43% monounsaturated and 35% polyunsaturated fatty acids, with the total oil consisting of around 30% omega-3 fatty acids.
Fish oil capsules are an excellent alternative, especially for people who do not like fish or who cannot meet their weekly needs.
